He's a living legend.And Prince made sure to let the world know he still has some surprises up his sleeve as he showed off a 1970s disco makeover at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, on Sunday.The 54-year-old star sported an afro and bell bottoms as he was presented with the Icon Award for his hit making career spanning over three decades.

The U singer highlighted his frizzy hairdo with large round Jackie O sunglasses not unlike the pair he wore in the film Purple Rain in 1984.The hitmaker was dressed like a 1970's super-villain as he shredded through a series of mind-bending riffs on his electric guitar.Adorning his eyes was his signature guy-liner along with a coating of make up.

Draped over his torso was a knee length multi-coloured tasselled coat and studded vest.Showing off his incredibly svelte physique the guitar legend donned matching neon green bell bottom leggings and turtleneck.The clingy attire left little to the imagination as the diminutive singer strutted confidently onstage.

Adorning the 1999 singer's right fist was a bejewelled pair of brass knuckles as he grinned contentedly while riffing with his bandmates.

Meanwhile, the famously elusive pop star appeared on The View last September.During the interview Barbara Walters pressed the singer to give his opinion on current pop stars Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.In response the music icon simply shrugged, saying: 'Different strokes for different folks.'
Prince, who's produced 10 platinum albums and 30 Top 40 singles, has altered his look many times over the years - while always maintaining a gender neutral theme.
